New mobility scooter for Shopmobility Watford

Shoppers in Watford are able to make use of a new mobility scooter, thanks to a county council grant.

Councillor Ian Brandon (Callowland Leggatts) allocated a grant of £350 to Shopmobility Watford from his locality budget.

The funding paid for a new scooter to be lent out to shoppers in the town centre with mobility problems.

Councillor Brandon said “Shopmobility do a great job supporting people’s independence by allowing them to do their own shopping and visit libraries and banks.”

Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire.

Mobility scooters are extremely important to those that actually need them. They are a huge convenience. This was a great idea.
