Former pupils, colleagues and family of a long-serving teacher organised a surprise celebration in recognition of two decades of service.
Kundanben Mehta, 78, of Hempstead Road , Watford has been a fixture at Watford Gurajati School since it opened in 1992.
The nursery teacher, who recently celebrated 25 years as a teacher, was asked to come to Watford Grammar School for Boys to lead a special prayers session last Saturday (July 14).
Little did she know her family and many ex students, including the first student she ever taught at the school, had arranged a celebration for her. When Ms Mehta opened her eyes again after making the prayers she was taken by surprise to see all of her family and former students around her.
Rita Mehta, co chair of Watford Gurajati School, said: "For a lady who is 78 years old she is an amazing lady. I am very proud to have her as a teacher at this school as she takes her work very seriously and is so committed to what she does".
