Organisers disappointed after Brooke fundraising shortfall

A fundraiser in Abbots Langley last Saturday (July 14) to help pay for a girl’s potentially life-saving treatment ended in disappointment.

Brooke Cornwell, six, of Breakspeare Close, Watford, has Diamond Blackfan Anaemia.

Organisers had hoped the event would raise £15,000 to fund her treatment in America although the final total was less than half that.

Heavy rain left the pitch at Evergreen Football Club on South Way sodden and muddy while a number of acts and stallholders failed to turn up.

Event organiser Hollie Clarke said: “The only cause of this was due to the weather which I feel is so disheartening as we had aimed to raise the full amount.”
