Well, of course, no-one would wish to infringe the human rights of travellers, would they?

They have human rights stretching way beyond the rest of us! And, unfortunately, the powers-that-be, which very much includes the police, are so terrified of being accused of racism etc that they are cowed into going along with it.

I find the whole thing beyond belief. What sort of people are ruling us?
It isn't so much that Roy. Travellers have played the system forever.
Try to prosecute one and they will claim to have 56 witnesses saying they were in Scotland at the time.
These witnesses must be interviewed or the defence team will claim the case has not been handled correctly, and vital evidence not submitted.

Of those 56, 6 don't even exist, 20 can't be found and 20 won't turn up in court on the day, meaning an adjournment.

In short, the taxpayer spends ten times as much attempting to prosecute a traveller for, say, fly tipping, than just clearing up and having done with it."

Watford roads closed for traveller funeral

Roads were closed in Watford today for the funeral procession of a traveller.

Mildred Avenue and Durban Road West were partially closed off as mourners made their way to North Watford Cemetery.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said it was also aware that travellers have currently occupied land off Radlett Road and that this is connected with the funeral.
