Bus users reminded to check free travel passes
11:28am Tuesday 7th August 2012 in News
Older bus users in Watford and Dacorum are being reminded that their free travel passes may soon be due for renewal.
Approximately 180,000 passes are currently in circulation in the county and the majority are due to expire in March 2013.
Hertfordshire County Council is currently writing to Dacorum and Watford residents to advise them how to renew.
Stuart Pile, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "The free bus pass scheme helps many older people in Hertfordshire remain independent.
"When a flyer comes through your door, it’s important that you renew your pass at the earliest opportunity, which will ensure you are still able to benefit from free bus travel after April 2013.
"If you know someone who has a free bus pass, please look out for their flyer to arrive and help them with the renewal process if they need it."

Do we really have to put up with this kind of patronising nanny-state condescension and nonsense from interfering busybodies in town halls and council offices? Who does Pile think he is? Does he really think that because older people are...well, older...that they start drooling at the mouth and lose their marbles and become incapable of filling in a simple form to renew their bus pass?
