The sun shone, the rain stayed away and approximately 600 young people came to King George V playing fields in Mill End and William Penn Leisure Centre for National Playday.

The day was officially declared open by the chairman of Three Rivers District Council , Kemal Butt and there were plenty of sports and activities on offer including the assault course, which attracted more than 460 children, and required great strength and agility.

Other activities at the Family Fun and Play Day included arts and crafts, sand play, water activities, badminton, golf, swimming, face painting, inflatables and the popular Three Rivers Play Rangers team.

Playday 2012 celebrated children’s right to play and highlighted the importance of play in children’s lives.
