Puppies found in park Puppies found in park

Six tiny puppies have been found abandoned in a box under a tree in Cassiobury Park .

The puppies, three females and three males thought to be less than six weeks old, were found yesterday (August 20) in a large brown cardboard box, containing bed sheets, a towel and a large blue and green striped T-shirt.

The terrier-type dogs were healthy and well fed but appeared to be very hungry.

A member of public who found them took them to the park cafe, in Watford, where they were looked after until they were transferred to an animal shelter.

Kate Wright, RSPCA animal welfare officer, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have crossed the park earlier in the day and saw this large box being left.

"These are very young animals which need their mother.

"They have been callously abandoned and the person who did this may not be taking proper care of the mother.

"Her teats will be full of milk and if she does not get attention she may suffer from mastitis."

Anyone who saw anything suspicious or knows of a dog that seems to have been pregnant but does not have any pups should call the RSPCA information line on 0300123 8018.

Hope the person responsible gets hauled over the coals and banned from owning and breeding again.

Breeders should be licensed, it's a change in the law that is needed!
