Rickmansworth Running Sisters attacked by youths throwing eggs

Members of a running club in Rickmansworth were attacked with eggs by a group of youths in a car last night.

The Rickmansworth Running Sisters were enjoying their regular Tuesday night run when three women were hit by eggs, thrown from a moving car.

Rose Goodchild, from the club, said: "At about 8.30pm we were at the top of Field Way, I was in a group of six and the girls in front were running ahead.

"We saw a black Vauxhall Corsa and three or four youths in it were laughing and jeering, I saw a hand come out and my friend said something has hit me.

"I looked a her and saw that she was covered in egg. When we got back to the club house in Mill End discovered two more runners had been hit as well."

Later, at 10pm, a group of women was attacked by youths throwing eggs and stones from a car.

Mandy Williams was celebrating her birthday with six friends at Zaza's in the High Street. As they left the restaurant, a car full of young men pulled up and attacked them.

She said: "We'd had such a lovely time and a laugh, and all of a suddenly a black car with five young guys in it pulled up and they started pelting us with stones and eggs.

"They were laughing and obviously thought it was funny to throw things at innocent people who were just out celebrating a birthday."

Ms Williams' said she was in a lot of pain from her rib after the attack, and has been told it needs to be examined by a doctor.

She added: "It was dangerous and bloody stupid. There was an elderly couple behind us and my sister in law has MS, she could have fallen over and banged her head on the kerb."

So that's around 12 people in total who had eggs thrown at them and not one of thought of getting the car registration number? Doesn't make the job for the police very easy.

They are either from the happy egg co ( joke !!! ) or having a yolk, all police need to do is go to tesco's and see who bought a dozen eggs...simples.

If it drove down the high street the registration number is bound to be caught on CCTV.

UK libel laws must be really tough if you have to explain that you joke about Happy Egg Company.

to The Rover - do you think the gang hang around long enough for anyone to see the registration number? Of course not! I was one of the group and by the time we realised what had happened the car had long gone.

They drove away in the car, no? If someone had got the registration number the chances of them getting caught would have been much higher. Too late now, but if you are a victim of a crime and a vehicle is involved make sure you do your best to get the registration number

You must think we are stupid. they threw the egg out of the car whilst moving at speed - by the time we realised what had happened the car was out of sight - it happened very quickly. You don't think we did our best to get it? Unfortunately I cannot run as fast as a car.

The article said "eggs", which would suggest they slowed down or stopped. However, you have clarified that it was a single egg. I am not calling you stupid, just stating that if you had the registration number they may have been caught

it was 3 separate incidents. As a club we have about 6 different groups go out. None of us knew until we got back to the club house that 3 different groups had been targeted.
