Council cash grant to aid Oxhey Woods Rhododendrons purge

Volunteers hoping to tackle the blight of Rhododendrons spreading through Oxhey Woods have received a council cash grant to aid their efforts.

The Oxhey Woods Conservation Volunteers have received £500 from Hertfordshire County Council.

The money will go towards tools to remove the non-indigenous, invasive plants as well as a display board, photos and literature to promote both the woods and the conservation group.

Hertfordshire County Council said removing Rhododendrons will help increase the biodiversity of the woods.

The money has come from the council’s locality budget scheme.
