Holywell Post Office to move two doors down the road

West Watford post office on the move West Watford post office on the move

A West Watford post office is due to close and move two doors down the road, Royal Mail has announced.

Holywell Post Office will be closing on October 9 and then reopening in the Martin McColl store at 79 Tolpits Lane on October 10.

The move comes after the Post Office received no feedback in its public consultation over the move.

Philippa Newey, Post Office spokesperson, said: “There was no feedback during the public consultation so we are confident that the new Tolpits Post Office in the Martin McColl store is the best way to meet both the needs of our customers and also ensure the longer term viability of Post Office services in the area.

“The move will also enable us to offer far longer opening times as the service will be open Monday to Saturday from 6am to 11pm and on Sunday from 7am to 10pm.”

at what cost? royal mails? or Mcolls, bloody stupid if you ask me, i dont live in the holywell but i have 2 other generations living in the estate.

the reason there was no response to the "consultation " was because royal mail are not removing it completely.

just like several other areas where mcolls have taken to post office on, they say to royal mail services will be avail 6am to 11pm but they NEVER have post office trained staff all those hours. so why bother

Based on my experience with the Royal Mail I expect to find this post office hidden behind a wheelie bin and a card left through Martin's door!

McColls have the post office on Cassiobury and it is (by all accounts) a thriving local set of shops. Note to locals Use or lose!

I hope McColls management take this opportunity seriously and put some staff in the shop to assist with this new venture. As current waiting times to get served at the tills are ridiculous at best, quite often I see people walking straight back out when they enter the store when they see the size of the queue, as I do regularly.

convenience store it is not........

Final point, as a resident of the Holywell, who actually did Royal Mail consult to get a nil responce

The old post office was grotty and dirty. Mccolls might be a better venture. I stopped going for 2 years as the customer service was soo poor at Holywell post office. The teller was more focused on talking on the phone than providing decent customer service.

Why has it got to move?

Will Mcolls offer the same services?
