Police investigate burglary at Shenley Cricket Centre
3:10pm Monday 10th September 2012 in News By Amie Mulderrig, Features Writer
Police are appealing for information following a burglary at a cricket club in Radlett.
Thieves forced their way into a brick built storage garage through a locked door at Shenley Cricket Centre in Radlett Lane.
Once inside they took the canvas part of a marquee, which was being stored in carry bag, and made off in an unknown direction.
Given the size and weight of the bag, it is believed the offender must have made their getaway in a vehicle of some kind, driving down the dirt track that leads to the club.
Police said the burglary was said to have taken place between 5pm on Thursday, August 9 and 10am on Monday, August 13.
DS David Smith, from the Safer Neighbourhood Team in Hertsmere, said: "This was an unusual item to take, but nevertheless I’m keen to catch the culprits and would like to speak to anyone who believes they may have seen the canvas marquee since the time of the burglary."
Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference J1/12/2828, or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
