Teenager Adam Simpson has had his greatest wish, to meet X-Factor pop star Olly Murs, granted by Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The 15-year-old from Watford has suffered from Bilateral Perthes for the vast majority of his life.

The condition severely affects his hips, and he often finds movement difficult and painful.

As a result, Adam has had to undergo a series of operations during the past ten years and he is often resigned to prolonged periods on crutches.

It is likely that Adam will need a double hip replacement as early as his late teens.

A popular and extrovert youngster, Adam loves music and practices the drums regularly.

His hero is chart-topping success Olly Murs and when Adam was referred to Starlight for a once-in-a-lifetime wish, it took him no time to decide that his wish would be to meet his idol.

Adam has learnt lots of Olly’s songs and he enjoys singing them on special occasions. He particularly loves the song, “Heart on my Sleeve”.

Starlight, the UK’s leading wish granting charity for children with serious and terminal illnesses, arranged for Adam to meet the man behind the music at Kempton Park Racecourse, where Olly was due to perform.

Adam and his family were whisked to the race course concert in stretch limo and the charity had arranged for Adam to meet Olly before the concert.

Adam said: “Meeting Olly was a magical moment that we will never forget.

"Having my picture taken with him and then getting to watch him perform live was a dream come true.”
