Pupils' artwork on show at Bushey Museum

Artwork created by pupils from St Margaret’s Preparatory School in Bushey is to be showcased in the town’s museum.

Visitors are invited to Bushey Museum to admire the sculptures, paintings and crafts created by pupils from Years 3, 4 and 5.

This is the first exhibition at the museum by St Margaret’s children and it shows work generated by the museum’s large painting ‘Summer’ by Miguel Mackinlay.

Following a visit to the museum in Rudolph Road, pupils chose different subjects of the curriculum to explore aspects of the painting in detail.

Jane Parker, from the museum, said: "The exhibition encompasses not just art and art history, but also science and English.

"One year group examined the technique used in Mackinlay’s work.

"Another year group looked at the history of the swimming pool that was in the King George Recreation Ground."

To guide visitors through the exhibition, there is an illustrated brochure giving details of all aspects of the pupils’ work.

The show, which lasts until October 14, is free to attend.

Bushey Museum is open Thursdays to Sundays from 11am to 4pm.
