Night-time drama as water main bursts in Chorleywood

Chorleywood water main bursts.
A burst water main in Chorleywood flooded Common Road last night.
Geoff Axtell sent in these pictures of the flood, which he discovered at 8pm when the water began creeping up the pathway outside his Chenies Road home.
He said: “This is the third water pipe break on Common Road since last December.
“I immediately called Veoila Water who told me they were aware of the problem and would be starting work to find the break once they had resolved a prior break in Shire Lane.
“By 11pm the water was at least 20cm deep on my front lawn and part of my drive and was making its way towards one of my garages.
“I relieved the immediate problem by taking-up a drain cover on my drive.”
