Chorleywood's cancelled Village Day held anyway

A Chorleywood charity which missed out on much needed publicity when the annual Village Day was cancelled, held its own event instead.

The Friends of Prostate Sufferers met at noon in the car park of Christchurch School in Chorleywood Road and created a Village Day all of their own.

Some of the charity's volunteers found a crowd of people wandering around the woods and golf club car park looking for the annual event, which was cancelled due to poor weather.

Bob Arthy, chairman of the charity, said: "We showed them the waterlogged ground that had caused the cancellation which led to guffaws of amazement and ribaldry. It was bone dry and basking in scorching sunshine."
