Watford Rottweiler Scarlett aims to become TV top model

A West Watford dog is hoping to catwalk herself to fame by claiming the title Britain’s most handsome pooch.

Scarlett, who is three-years-old, will be starring in ITV2’s show, Top Dog Model, tonight alongside her owner Anthony Skordis.

The canine will go up against stiff competition from 22 other dogs in a Paw Camp, which will whittle the contest down to six hopeful hounds in the final.

However Anthony, 37, who lives in Oxford Street, said he entered Scarlett because he wants her to help undo the bad name Rottweilers have developed.

He said: “Rottweiler’s get a lot of bad press and I entered Scarlett in to the show to get away from this.

"Scarlett is a beautiful looking dog and has been a great ambassador for the breed.

“She has done me proud.”

The previous stages of the show have seen Scarlett pout and pose for her place with dog-eat-dog modeling assignments, including photo and video shoots.

Anthony, who is a self employed dog walker around Watford, was also tested on how well Scarlett behaves, in the competition that could see her win an advertising campaign for well-known dog brand.

Anthony added: “Before I got Scarlett a lot of people told me not to get a Rottweiler, however I think it all depends on how you train your dog and the people you have around it.

“I am a firm believer that children should be educated better to approach dogs correctly or how to ignore them correctly as well as owners taking more responsibility of their dogs no matter what size.

“The competition has been fun and Scarlet has really enjoyed it.

“She loves all the attention and loves people, if not more than dogs.”

I agree with all the guys comments. I walk my dog every morning around west Watford and the majority of the people I pass in the street cross into the road or walk around parked cars. Those that do this are from originally sunnier climates where big cats and poisonous snakes roam free for goodness sake. I've also had one female in full religious dress start shreiking and shouting at my dog as we passed her gate.

Dog owners are starting to feel a tad excluded in today's society.

Remember there are no bad dogs just bad owners!
