Brewery to sell limited edition bottles in aid of National Air Ambulance week

Beer drinkers will get a chance to do their bit for Hertfordshire Air Ambulance appeal next week.

National Air Ambulance week begins on Monday, September 24, and a local independent brewery is making it easy for beer drinkers to make a donation, while enjoying a tipple at the same time.

This year’s fundraising theme is based around the colour red and for the duration of the week, Tring Brewery will be selling a limited run of bottled Ridgeway Red.

Each bottle comes with a unique batch number essentially making it a raffle ticket you can drink.

Early in October a draw will take place with the winner winning a meal for four at The Red Lion, Water End thanks to Oakman Inns.

Bottles cost £4 and are available from the Tring Brewery from Monday with all money going to the Herts Air Ambulance Charity.

The Herts Air Ambulance is solely funded by charitable contributions and requires £130,000 per month to operate it’s much valued and often life saving service.

Hmmm... responsible drinking, Saturday night casualty and all that, I'm wondering if a promotion of alcohol is appropriate for health / emergency services fund raising. I'd be more cynical if it were Diageo or Pernod-Ricard.

But well done Tring Brewery anyway - glad to see a small/medium brewery in the positive public spotlight.

I take your point, but people drink already and this won't change things or make things any worse so good luck to them, raising funds for a good cause.

Is a small independent brewery helping drinkers to raise money for a good cause any worse than all those years when just about every health-giving sport was sponsored by the giant tobacco companies?

If we are going to get all puritanical and PC about it, there is scarcely a charity or cause that would survive if we took a close look at all the backers!

Quite so. That's why I was in two minds about it. But the Politically Correct laser will swing round and spot these things. I mean, Coca-Cola and McDonalds and Cadburys sponsoring the Olympics? Come on! Of course it'll happen.

I was just sayin' is all.
