Herts Inclusive Theatre receives £300 from Hertsmere Borough Council
3:02pm Wednesday 19th September 2012 in News
A group of local performers will be putting on a pantomime show to remember, thanks to Hertsmere Borough Council .
Herts Inclusive Theatre, a charity working with disabled and non-disabled children, young people and adults, has received £300 from Hertsmere Borough Council ’s Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS).
The money will be spent on hiring The Ark theatre for a rehearsal and pantomime in January.
Caroline England, Artistic Director from Herts Inclusive Theatre, said: "We are thrilled to receive this funding from the council.
This is our first ever pantomime with members, so it is a very exciting opportunity to create our own panto and perform it in the theatre.
"Our theatre group helps everyone, no matter what their age or involvement, to grow and learn through the arts.
"Having the opportunity to perform on a stage in front of their loved ones is a unique opportunity. I am sure they will all shine under the stage lights."
Herts Inclusive Theatre meets on a regular basis at The Bushey Centre, High Street, Bushey and aims to build confidence, communication skills and to encourage social inclusion.

Non-essential spending by councils should be stopped IMHO. Is this really what people pay their council tax for? I know it's only a small amount, but if we stopped wasting these small amounts then perhaps the council would be prepared to stop wasting large amounts too and slim down a bit. Then we could all benefit by having lower taxes.

Clearly these grants are given out for no real reason and should be abandoned, or only made if the councillor matches the grant, i.e. puts in £500 of their own money. That would come to the same thing in the end.
If their own money is involved, I wonder how generous they would then be? I think we all know the answer to that one.
At's just a disgrace councils spending our money on such things just because there's a budget for it! When will councils learn? It's our money and we want it spent wisely on things we need councils to do, or don't spend it at all and reduce council taxes.
Grrrr!

And there you are defending a litter lout that was fined £300 for not paying a fixed penalty noice. POT KETTLE BLACK.
Please explain how not wanting to fine people disproportionately for such petty misdemeanours when a reprimand would suffice and wasteful council spending on nothing projects such as above justify your comment.
Are you in favour of this woman's fine and costs for dropping a butt in the street and also in favour of councils spending £800 on these two non-projects from our taxes.
I would like to understand your viewpoint but frankly it just isn't coherent or logical.
