Spate of vandalism in West Watford

A spate of vehicle damage has plagued several streets in Watford this week.

Last night four cars had their driver's side front window smashed in Croxley View, High View, Hagden Lane and Healey Road.

A fifth car had the front windscreen smashed in Harwoods Lane between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning Sergeant Scott Curran, investigating, said: "This type of behaviour is not acceptable in Watford.

"We are following up a number of positive leads but I would like to speak with anyone who saw the offender or may have information about these incidents."

You can contact sergeant Curran by telephoning 101, or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Look on the bright side. Despite these people running around smashing things up, there are no reports of any of them littering.
Employing council officials to issue littering fines is a far better use of public money than real police patrolling the streets to deter, or even catch, late night vandals.

Is this an example of crime figures being down and our streets being safer without street lighting?

Whilst I support your general sentiment, i have to point out that the budget set of policing and civil enforcement are completely different and are set at the central government level.
So the amount of litter enforcers etc doesn't affect the recourcing of Herts Constabulary.

The budgets are granted and the size of the council budget does not affect the size of the policing budget. ( its not a sliding scale system).
