The first of two consultations into the £750,000 refurbishment of Leavesden Green Community Centre was held on Thursday.
Residents were given the chance to have their say on Watford Community Housing Trust’s plans to transform the 1950s community hub.
The housing trust took over the building on Clarke Way last year – agreeing a 99-year-lease to run the building on behalf of Watford Borough Council.
The trust say they have already invested in essential refurbishments to the “tired” building but now wish to change both the inside and outside of the building.
There will be a second opportunity for anybody keen to view plans for the community centre to do so next Thursday (September 27) between 3pm and 9pm.
Tina Barnard, chief exec of the trust, said: “Since taking over the centre, we have been working with local residents and centre users to create a vision for the centre which would mean it is more modern and vibrant, and that it enhances the estate and the park at Leavesden Green.”
