Gas works start in Hempstead Road causing rush hour gridlock
Main roads in Watford have been brought to a standstill during rush hour periods after major gas works started in Hempstead Road .
National Grid Gas Plc started works to replace nearly 100 metres of mains near the junction with Stratford Way yestderday.
Two way temporary traffic lights have gone up causing gridlock as far back at Rickmansworth Road during busy periods yesterday and this morning.
The works are scheduled to go on until December 3.
The current gas main works come after National Grid Gas started other major works further up Hempstead Road, by the junction with Langley Way, at the beginning of this month.
These works are due to go on until October 29.
