Red letter day for top dog Scarlett
A West Watford rottweiler is vying for a place on the catwalk after successfully impressing the judges for another week on a television beauty contest.
Scarlett and her owner Anthony Skordis won a place in a group of the top four contestants in the ITV2 show Top Dog Model last night.
As well as having to prove herself as the next Vincent Van Woof in an art contest, the three-year-old also had to model for a greetings card and underwater photo-shoots.
The competitions started with 22 other dogs, each fighting for a place in the final, where a lucrative doggy modelling contract is on offer.
The first task in this week's competition was to impress judge Addison Witt in a painting competition.
There was some dispute over who was actually in charge of the brush but Scarlett impressed with her piece, entitled "rage".
Next the dogs were snapped by top animal photographer Gez Gethings, after picking a random theme from a hat.
Scarlett had to display her best puppy-dog eyes as the face of an "I love you" greetings card and was described as having a lovely jawline.
Mr Skordis said: "She's not just pretty, she's got a brain."
Finally the five wannabe Michael Yelps were taken to Manchester for an swimming photo shoot with Seth Casteel.
Scarlett found the session tough for the first five minutes and judge Lilah Parsons said she was "slightly disappointed, Scarlett was uncomfortable in the environment but did improve".
Mr Skordis, 37, who lives in Oxford Street, said: "She looks beautiful in the pictures, the card has proved what a beautiful dog a rottweiler is."
Scarlett was the third choice to stay in the competition, finishing above Lucky and Bow the poodle, who was sent home.
