A schoolboy cyclist who was involved in a crash with a car in Watford this morning – has escaped with minor injuries.
Police and paramedics were called to the corner of Trevellance Way and Kingsway, North Orbital Road, Watford, at about 8.15am, following reports of an accident involving a young boy and a black Ford Mondeo.
The victim, thought to a 12-year-old pupil from St Michael’s School in Garston, was rushed to Watford General Hospital after the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST), an ambulance from Watford station and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attended the scene.
Police initially said the boy’s condition was serious due to the nature of the accident, but have now said the victim escaped with minor injuries.
Dan Phillips, police spokesman, said: "Luckily, the boy is only suffering from bruising.
"At first we thought his condition was more serious, certainly the incident appeared a lot more serious, and the Air Ambulance was called as a precaution.
"It was suspected he had sustained fractures, but I’m pleased to say he’s escaped with bruising."
