Lights, camera, action... A new feature film starring award-winning comedy actor Simon Pegg has begun filming in Kings Langley.

The World’s End, the third instalment of the Edgar Wright trilogy of comedies which began with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, started filming in and around Hertfordshire yesterday (Monday).

As with the two earlier pictures, Mr Wright co-wrote the script with Simon Pegg, who also stars in all three comedies.

Residents spotted the film crew in Kings Langley High Street and the film crew unit base is located on a private piece of land just outside the village, in Nash Mills.

The Universal Pictures movie is the story of five childhood friends who reunite to try a drinking marathon 20 years after first attempting a pub crawl.

Simon Pegg stars as Gary King, a 40-year-old man trapped in his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town to reconcile the past with a visit to a fabled pub, The World’s End.

The Watford Observer has been told the site in Nash Mills will only be temporary and filming will continue in and around residential areas of Hertfordshire.

Other actors involved in the new film include Pegg’s long-time collaborator Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike.

The film is scheduled for release towards the end of next year.
