Resident complains about new signage in Oxhey Park

Park signs 'cause confusion' Park signs 'cause confusion'

New signs in Oxhey Park could cause confusion by sending walkers the wrong way to the town centre, a resident has complained.

The signpost, at the Lower High Street entrance, directs people into the park pointing to Watford town centre, St Albans or Rickmansworth.

Ross King, of Cedar Road, who has lived near the park most of his life, said this would send walkers away from the town and Lower High Street.

He said: "It is not only confusing, it is wrong. As for St Albans being that way, that’s just ludicrous.

"If someone walked this way from the station who had not been here before they will go to West Watford thinking it is the town centre."

A spokesman for the Watford Borough Council said the signs had been set up to indicate a designated cycle route that runs through the park.

The signs at the Lower High Street gate are followed by later ones in the park directing cyclists over the River Colne and then back onto the ring road.

Mr King added: "If you follow all the signs you will get into town, but you have to go around the houses.

"If they are so ashamed of the Lower High Street they should clean it up."

"If they are so ashamed of the Lower High Street they should clean it up."

Nah. They blew the cash on the Parade.

Dorothy knows what she's doing. The money spent on the Parade will attract people spending money. Unfortunately, signage in places where people walk or cycle take a lower priority.

...and Charter Place is being redeveloped/improved - and at the lower end of the High Street by the Harlequin entrance/Kings Street.

...therefore much of the High Street!

"Lower High Street" - that's the bit from the pyramid down to Bushey Arches.

Also... "Much of the High Street!", to which I say, "What? Again!?"
