Students from Northwood prep school were presented with a trophy on Friday morning for the most pupil entries into the Moor Park 10K.
The race, which took place on Sunday, September 30, enjoyed the most entries in its history with more than 1,400 people taking part in either the full 10K or one of the junior races.
At a school assembly on Friday, event organiser John Hambleton presented the school with the inaugural 2012 trophy in recognition of the 44 runners.
The trophy has been introduced by organisers to help encourage young athletes in the wake of this summer’s Olympic Games.
Mr Hambleton said: "The event was yet again a huge success with the numbers in the fun runs doubling.
"Hopefully this is a step in the right direction to encourage youngsters to get involved in sport. We have pushed the idea of 'inspiring a generation' in schools and it seems to have paid off."
