A brawl at Fullerians Rugby Club on Friday evening left three police officers needing hospital treatment and two men under arrest.
Officers were called to the club’s Coningesby Drive home at around 11.30pm to reports of a fight but three were assaulted as they sought to restore peace, all sustaining facial injuries.
Two men were arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed to return to Watford Police Station on November 6, pending further police enquiries.
Club chairman Kevin Brind said the trouble had started during a private 18th birthday party at the club.
He said the licensed doormen working during the evening decided to shut the bar and end the disco to prevent the trouble escalating but a small number of people continued to cause trouble outside.
He said police had commended the club on the actions security staff had taken and that CCTV footage had been supplied to officers to help wth their ongoing enquiries.
