A school in Abbots Langley has officially opened its new nursery facilities and reception classes.
Tanners Wood Junior school in Hazelwood Lane, welcomed local residents, parents and pupils to admire their brand new nursery facilities and two reception classes yesterday.
Mike Lansdown, Head teacher at the school, said: "The opening of a new early year’s unit is an extremely important moment in the story of Tanners Wood.
"It marks the expansion of the school to two forms of entry and, with the Children’s Centre next door, establishes the site firmly at the heart of the local community.
"We are thrilled with the modern and well thought out facilities which also incorporate a kitchen for general curriculum use as well as a spacious room for music and drama.
"We are now looking forward to seeing future generations of local children enjoying our new accommodation as a first step on their journey to year six and beyond."
The Hillside Residents Association and members of the Friends of Tanners Wood were also invited along to welcome the improved outdoor area, complete with climbing equipment and large canopies which are already proving to be a hit with the children whatever the weather.
