Helen Hyde gives personal account of family's ordeal during Holocaust
12:16pm Monday 15th October 2012 in News
A relative of Holocaust survivors has given a personal account of her family’s ordeal as part for a meeting at Radlett and Bushey Reform Synagogue.
Helen Hyde, headteacher of Watford Girls Grammar School and synagogue chairwoman, relayed her story in front of a packed audience at the religious building in Watling Street on Thursday.
Mrs Hyde has dedicated her life to educating people about the Holocaust and was one of only a handful to give evidence at the trial of Nazi war criminal Ivan "John" Demjanjuk.
During the presentation she also showed the audience a photo of her family during the war.

So much so that she almost trips over herself in her efforts to prevent information about the ethnic cleansing of historical Palestine at gunpoint in order to provide "Lebensraum" for relatives of roughly half the people murdered by the Nazis being disseminated to pupils of her school.
It is interesting that while promoting her narrowly focused version of events, Mrs Hyde never has much to say about the other half of the people paying the ultimate price for their "difference", the Polish Catholics, the Roma, the homosexuals, the trade unionists, the communist, the disabled people and all those others who did not follow the Jewish faith.

And I agree, there is another holocaust going on in Palestine right now where people of the jewish faith are doing exactly what was done to them in the 1930s central Europe.
The majority of course, are decent people, just wanting to live their lives and get on, and I would never judge a people by the acts of a few.
But, hell they make it hard work.

As you said LSC you shouldn’t judge the whole on the actions of a few.
With regards this talk I don’t know the lady but this was a talk specifically about her relatives and how they faired during the holocaust, the tragic happenings in Palestine/Israel since (which lets not forget before we get too high and mighty the British were VERY involved in) or the sufferings other groups went through (including many catholics LSC, or is that okay because the Pope was best mates with Adolf?) werent the subject matter so she shouldn’t be castigated for not mentioning them.
I wasn’t there (were you Mike and Harry?) so it might be the WO that decided to use the term war criminal. Even if the term she used rather pedantic to be picking her up on it isnt it? I get the impression, willing to be put right on this, that in this country if youre convicted of something you remain convicted even if you appeal until the appeal has been upheld
The holocaust was a horrendous event in this worlds history, its quite right that it shouldn’t be forgotten amongst other reasons because yes it does reflect on the behaviour of many states and individuals today and it’s a disgrace that people should be turning this into some sort of personal vendetta against an individual.

'Since his conviction was pending appeal at the time of his death (in March 2012) Demjanjuk remains presumed innocent under German law, and his earlier conviction is invalidated. According to the Munich state court, Demjanjuk does not have a criminal record.'
