Three Rivers District Council grants permission for shop in The Parade, off Delta Gain to sell alcohol

A new Carpenders Park off-licence has been given the go-ahead to sell alcohol despite police warning it is located in an anti-social behaviour ‘hotspot’.
At a meeting last Monday (October 8) Three Rivers District Council’s licensing sub-committee granted permission for the shop in The Parade, off Delta Gain to sell alcohol.
As well as the police, three ‘other persons’ made representations warning that the building would exacerbate existing problems of underage drinking, crime and anti-social behaviour.
Kanavathipillai Sureshkumar applied for the licence to sell alcohol off the premises between 8am and 11pm on August 8.
However, police warned that alcohol dependents were known to travel from South Oxhey to Carpenders Park and said the proposed licensing hours could potentially lead to an increase in nuisance and disorder.
