Rudolf Steiner School raises nearly £2,000 during Waldorf One World day
A school in Kings Langley has raised just near £2,000 towards a school in Israel to mark its 19th international day.
Rudolf Steiner School in Langley Hill held its Waldorf One World (WOW) day, which aims to raise money towards improving the living conditions of children all over the world.
A puppet show, sponsored walk and open mike session were just some of the fundraising events at this year’s WOW to raise just over £1,651 for Ein Bustan an Arab-Jewish school in Israel offering a bridge between the Arab and Jewish population through a joint, multi-cultural education setting.
This year, parents Andrea Chishti and Annie Marcuson, organised the events and Andrea was responsible for a fundraising lunch, where a homemade curry caused a storm.
Priya Mahtani, from the school, said: "The advertised take-away curry was such a great success that despite having cooked three huge pots of curry, extra dishes had to be cooked on the morning of WOW day, as demand was so high and the food had run out.
"People often comment on how tasty food is at events at the Steiner School. Clearly the WOW day was no exception.
"WOW day turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable community event as well as being a successful fundraiser for Ein Bustan and money is still coming in."
Youngsters from the school’s kindergarten also added colour to the fundraising event, where they were sponsored by family and friends for each rainbow colour they were wearing.
