Peace, love and a huge cash boost for charity Peace, love and a huge cash boost for charity

Quizzers dressed as hippies and joined 150 hospice supporters at the Peace and Love Quiz run by the Peace Hospice's Corporate Development Group at Hunton Park.

Tables at the Hunton Bridge venue were hosted by local companies, who also donated raffle prizes and sponsored rounds for the evening.

The winning team was headed up by Colin Kidd from the Elstree Company Sensornet, with the Team Name "The Untouchables" – which proved true on the night.

Hunton Park hosted the evening with a themed room and buffet, and Barclays attended the event and matched the amount raised by the raffle.

Hospice Corporate Development Manager Rachel Fowler said: "It was a fabulous, fun evening with a great atmosphere.

"We raised a tremendous £6,000 which really helps towards the £3.8 million in charitable income the Hospice needs to raise every year to keep its services going."

She added: "Events like these play a vital role in helping to support the Hospice’s continued work as we aim to reach more people across South West Hertfordshire with a life limiting illness.

"Thank you to everyone who supported the evening and helped us to raise these much needed funds.

"Thank you in particular to our last minute stand-in compere – Sam Ward – who looked spectacular in his Beatles outfit and did a tremendous job as master of ceremonies.

"Sam is from Borehamwood Company, Cardif Pinnacle. Thank you also to his colleagues Sarah Potter and Linda Piper who prepared the questions and ran the scoring on the night."

Debbie Diggle, director of the SW Herts Athena Ladies Networking Groups, hosted a table at the quiz and said: "It was a fantastic evening with everyone really getting into the spirit of it. We are always happy to support this amazing local charity."

The next big corporate fundraising event to take place is The Christmas Party which is being held on December 20. To find out more, call Rachel Fowler on 01923 335348.
