Watford Borough Council offering free advice to help keep vulnerable warm this winter

Watford Borough Council is offering free advice to residents worried about being cold in their homes.

The joint project, involving all ten Hertfordshire district and borough councils and the county council, hopes to provide help and advice to households struggling to keep warm.

Councillor Derek Scudder, the council's cabinet member, responsible for environmental issues, said: "This project brings together voluntary and social care organisations from across the county to work together to ensure those in need are receiving the most appropriate help and advice.

"The project’s primary focus is for anyone who is worried about keeping warm, including elderly residents, other low income households and vulnerable groups such as those with small children."

A one stop county team will deliver referrals through the ‘Herts Help’ call centre and via online enquiries, by visiting www.hertsdirect.org/hertshelp or calling 0300 1234 044.

Well, it might be ironic if by closing the call centre telling you how to keep warm meant a lower council tax bill so you could afford heating in the first place... but I don't know if that what was being implied!
