Cancer survivor Christine Lythaby holds fundraising event at home

Cancer event raises £450 Cancer event raises £450

A Watford woman who overcame breast cancer hosted her own event to raise £450 for charity after being too ill to take part in Race for Life..

Christine Lythaby decorated her East Drive home with purple ribbons, a symbol of breast cancer awareness, and invited 35 friends, neighbours and family members over.

Mrs Lythaby said she has been inspired to raise money for Breast Cancer Care following her own battle four years ago and the loss of a friend to the disease the year before that.

The event on September 22 included a raffle, barbeque and a tombola with prizes donated by Watford businesses but she hopes to expand the event in a different venue next year.
