Courtlands Residents Association awarded £1,880 by Hertfordshire County Council for notice boards

A north Watford residents' association has been given a nearly £2,000 council grant to pay for new notice boards.

Courtlands Residents Association has been awarded £1,880 by Hertfordshire County Council to pay for the signs, which will be installed at the entrances to the Goodwood Recreation Ground in November.

The money has come from the council’s locality budget scheme.

If every County Councillor gave up their £10,000 locality budget, the County would have saved enough money to keep our street lights on throughout the night.

I know what I would prefer.

The county is about far more than providing street lights and whilst I don’t necessarily agree with everything being given a grant these grants can and do add added value to the lives of people in the county more often than not. Even in hard times, maybe especially in hard times, the little things that can make life bearable for many shouldn’t be totally ignored

I would prefer to have the street lights stay on and keep the Grants. But if we cant have both, I would prefer to keep the lights on.

Perhaps we should be consulted on spending priorities for County.

Of course keeping both is the ideal but if I had to choose my preference is the other way than yours and I'd support keeping the grants, just shows the diversity of opinions that our dear leaders have to face!

Maybe a consultation would be a good idea, but if its county wide isnt there a possibility that that'll cost as much money as the amount that is being consulted on?
