Service for Spanish crash victims


A memorial service to honour the five people who died in a road crash in Spain will be held next week.

The Watford Observer reported last week that Juan de Dios Garcia, 73, and his wife Carmen, 62, were killed on Sunday, September 2, along with their sons Juan de Dios, 43, and Santiago, 39, when the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry.

The family lived in Croxley View for many years.

Martin Latimore, who used to live in Harwoods Road, Watford, but moved to Spain nine months ago, was also killed.

The Garcica family have been described as "the nicest people you could wish to meet".

A friend of Mr Latimore's said he was "one of life's cheerful souls". Mr Latimore had previously worked for RL Supplies, a computer and accessories firm based in the Peerglow Industrial Estate, Olds Approach, Watford.

The only survivor in the crash was Mr Latimore's dog Pete.Pete is well known to many in Watford as Mr Latimore used to take his dog with him wherever he went.When Mr Latimore went into an office to fix the computers, he took Pete with him.

A special service will be held Holy Rood Church, Market Street, on Tuesday, September 18, at 7pm. All are welcome to attend.

.Collection boxes have also been placed at Holywell Post Office in Tolpits Lane, and RL Supplies, Peerglow Industrial Estate.Funds donated will go towards purchasing a park bench in honour of the road crash victims.Many people have already paid tribute below to the victims of the crash below.
