BrightHouse of Watford announces expansion of store opening programme

Watford based BrightHouse, the UK’s leading rent-to-own retailer, has announced details of its accelerated store opening programme in the UK.

This comes as the company opened its 200th store in Bedford, on Thursday, quickly followed by its 201st and 202nd store’s in Andover and Orpington on Friday.

These stores will be quickly followed by BrightHouse’s 203rd and 204th stores in Rhyl and Harlow.

The company has grown from 141 stores in 2006, to 200 today. It opened 21 stores in the financial year ending March 31 2010, and plans to open a further 30 stores during the current financial year, taking the total to 228.

BrightHouse currently has around 180,000 customers throughout the country. It provides customers, many of whom are credit impaired, with the means to access quality household goods and services through responsible lending and affordable weekly payments.

Leo McKee, BrightHouse CEO, said: “I am delighted that we have reached this milestone. It reflects how our customers value the service that we provide. We offer high quality branded products – consumer electronics, domestic appliances, furniture, and laptops – under flexible rent-to-own agreements.

“BrightHouse will continue to expand by serving our core market – low income families. The alternative credit market in the UK comprises some 5.2 million households, giving us the potential to expand the chain over time to as many as 650 stores. Wherever we go, we are close to our customers, most of whom visit our stores weekly. A core ingredient in our continuing success is the special nature of the relationships that are fostered at local community level.”
