A chance to ‘try before you buy’ a Cedars Village retirement home in Chorleywood

A retirement village in Chorleywood is doing its bit to help kick start the housing market by offering would-be customers the chance to try before they buy.

Just like test driving a car or trying on a new outfit, the Try Before You Buy scheme allows people the opportunity to experience first hand what it’s like to live at Cedars Village.

People interested in buying a home in the village are invited to enjoy a complimentary overnight stay in a dedicated cottage.

They are able to use all the facilities at the village, including the restaurant, bar, ballroom, library, smoker room and 22 acres of grounds. During their stay they can meet residents already enjoying the lifestyle on offer and join in any of the many social activities and events which regularly take place.

The Try Before You Buy scheme has already been successful at other Retirement Villages Ltd’s developments. Some guests have been so taken with the lifestyle and the homes that they have reserved their new home during their stay.

Sales and Marketing Director Sarah Burgess said: “Some people find it difficult to imagine themselves living in a retirement village.

“Owning your own home while having exclusive access to such extensive communal facilities isn’t the kind of lifestyle many people will have experienced before. I always describe the Try Before You Buy Scheme as giving people the chance to ‘touch and feel’ how it could work for them.”

Cedars Village is on the fringe of Chorleywood and has 150 privately owned homes for people aged 60 and over. The centrepiece is a magnificent Grade II listed mansion, originally built in the 1850s in the French Renaissance style.
