Majestic Wine, whose head office is in Otterspool Way, Watford, has been crowned “Speciality Retailer of the Year”, and its Wine Course has been awarded “Customer Service Initiative of the Year” at High Street Oscars, the Oracle Retail Week Awards 2011.
Reducing its minimum purchase from 12 to six bottles has been a big success for Majestic Wine, resulting in an increase of customers purchasing goods in the past 12 months, up by 54,000 to 472,000.
In the past year, the retailer has also introduced 160 new wines, taking its total range to more than 800. This helped the company to a 20 per cent increase in profit for the 2010/2011 financial year.
The Wine Course was introduced in response to consumer feedback which showed there was an appetite to learn more about wine.
The course, developed over a period of six months, provides a free two hour, high level educational experience for customers, enabling Majestic’s knowledgeable staff to share their passion and knowledge for wine.
Available across all 160 stores in the UK, the course has been delivered to approximately 15,000 customers.
The highlight of the UK retail industry calendar, a total of 17 awards were presented at the Oracle Retail Week Awards ceremony held in London’s West End.
