Well it’s all the F’s this Friday, so fill up with Frappe Coffee and fig rolls and I’ll begin…I hope you’re feeling as fantabulous as I did this week when news filtered through that the vote on reforming the Fox hunting ban had flopped. There is no room in our society for this barbaric act, it’s not a sport, pastime or  given right just because some upper crust toffs  feel that being human gives them  superiority over all living things.

              Watford Observer:

A fox didn’t ask to be born a fox just as we didn’t ask to be born human, and first thing in the morning before I have my first coffee being human is questionable tis true. But seriously, the tables could’ve quite easily been turned; you or I could’ve been born a fox or badger, or a zillion and one other creatures that a minority of society seem to want to harm for their own agenda.

We’re often fed frightening over dramatized facts that we’re being over populated by  some diseased ridden species as though our residential streets are in danger of turning into a Hitchcock film. But then couldn’t the same be said for humans?  We’re not superior, we’re extremely fortunate and gifted with a choice of how to use all this power that we have, especially when it comes to  animals, we can kill or be kind. Thankfully most people choose the latter.

       Watford Observer:

Onto gadget of the week, and staying with furry friends this is like a game console for your dog. For those old enough to remember, it’s a much simpler doggy version of  80’s human game  “SIMON”  When the  dog hits the right lights with its paw, a treat appears. I can’t help thinking it could double up as Boyfriend, husband trainer too……But maybe that’s why I’m single?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NN2hF9RGtA

In ME news, Charity Invest In ME have long funded students activities relating to ME in various ways, so let me introduce Fane Mensah, he has been involved from the start in the UK rituximab trial project, this work is crucial to try to find some ways of identifying patients that respond to rituximab and also why some don’t. Recently he was entered for the UCL IIT early career researcher poster competition – a competition of all microbiology projects at UCL. And the Charity proudly reported that Fane was one of three winners. This has really helped spread the message that research into ME has made it to the cutting edge and is well worth being involved with.

         Watford Observer:

This is such an important achievement not only for Fane but for the Charity and the ME Community as a whole and you can read more about it by going to: http://www.ukrituximabtrial.org/Rituximab%20news-Jul15%2001.htm

Starting as I began with Foxes, In local news, here in Watford I’m lucky to back onto woodland, and over the years we’ve been blessed with a menagerie of animals  that come to be fed, start families, then move on. I always give them names based on their personalities or look, & right now we have Cyril the squirrel, Dave the Blue jay, Morning the blackbird  Guinness & Bailey the badgers, Sly, Dopey & Tigger the Fox family. I’ve taken many videos but have only just started uploading them and I thought I’d share this one with you. I was ready to intervene, thinking the fox cub  might get hurt, but I needn’t of worried. Hope you enjoy it?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWOwUH8fEUk
