After slapping my wrist for being late this morning...we can begin, So I’ve never been very good at other languages, although some days due to life and circumstances my vocabulary is so littered with effs & Jeffs you could be mistaken for thinking I’d invented Profanish. But I do love connecting with other cultures whether literally or through trying out their products…..

A few months ago the receptionist at my Osteopaths place told me all about the health benefits of a  drink called Kefir (pronounced Ker-feer)  that’s  said to have originated in Russia & made from cow's or sometimes goat's milk to which bacteria Streptococcus and Lactobacillus & other cultures have been added.  She’d got chatting to a polish lady one day and was telling her about her husbands Crohns disease and that’s when the lady suggested Kefir http://authoritynutrition.com/9-health-benefits-of-kefir/ So he started taking it and noticed his condition improve greatly. The proof was when they went on holiday abroad and couldn’t purchase any and his health deteriorated again. But on return to the Uk as soon as he started taking it again his condition improved.

          Watford Observer:

Up to now I’ve not been able to tolerate Calcium very well,  and as someone with poor health including Osteoporosis I really needed to do something, so I was thrilled at being able to  tolerate Kefir which is packed full of  calcium goodness amongst a heap of other good stuff, It’s  a bit like drinking natural yoghurt, so if you don’t like the slight sour taste you can add a bit of honey or make a smoothie with it. It’s only been a few weeks but I’m already feeling the difference. You can buy it in most places, but if you get stuck just pop into your local polish store, and if you try it too, let me know how you get on.

Staying on health, my gadget of the week originating from the States is the Prohands Grip master. Originally for guitarists to build up the strength in individual fingers, they are now widely used by sports people , those recovering from hand injuries, recuperating from illness, and anyone wanting to strengthen fingers and hands  It’s a bit like playing a trumpet but without the blowing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtMfH6jQzfY

There are various strengths from extra light to heavy & Pro. I have the blue light tension one which is just right for me and I keep it in my pocket, its handy to use whether standing at a bus stop, sitting in a doctors waiting room or just chilling on the sofa watching telly. Used regularly it really builds up your hand/finger strength  http://www.prohands.net/exercise/FingerPlay/  the best deal I found was on Ebay £11.99 inc free postage: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gripmaster-Blue-Light-Tension-Hand-Finger-Strengthener-Exerciser-prohands-/191169508131

                          Watford Observer:

In M.E news you might remember that a fortnight ago I mentioned an award winning  BBQ restaurant in Westmont, Illinois. called Uncle Bubs?  http://unclebubs.com/ They run an event where people can vote for their favourite charity and then throughout the following month all Uncle Bubs employees will donate 10% of all tips earned to the winning charity…well Drumroll, this months chosen charity is  Invest In ME  http://www.investinme.org/ The charity & M.E community are absolutely delighted, there was stiff competition, with lots of voting,  sharing and retweets going on, which in itself is wonderful because it helps to raise much needed awareness, so to actually be the winning charity was the icing on the cake. So a big holla of heartfelt thanks going out to Uncle bubs & all its employees, and also to all those that voted.

             Watford Observer:

JustGiving are also holding votes for Charity of the Year….could we make it a double?  You only have til Sunday 23rd August to cast your vote and spread the word, so sharing, & retweeting is called for, but with everyones help I’m sure we can make a good bid for it.

And on the local front, from our very own back garden “Pudding Gardens” I thought you might like to meet another of our furry friends other than the fox and badger. This is Cyril the Squirrel, he never stops eating, is very territorial & doesn’t like sharing whatsoever, They say the best things in life are free, and being blessed with all these woodland creatures is certainly a tonic.
