I often ponder how the human race has managed to get this far over many thousands of years without becoming extinct, such are the dangers and hazards to existence that threaten us on all sides.

Uncomfortable at being spied upon
The front page story in last week's issue of this newspaper about how many CCTV cameras are watching you as you walk from one end of Watford town centre to the other sent slight shivers up and down my spine.

Arrogant to judge by today's standards

THREE teenage pupils of Watford Grammar School for Girls, who pretended to be magistrates while learning how courts work, imposed a four-months "jail sentence" on a fictional persistent thief.

Grave matter is a no-win situation
Call me heartless if you like, but the complaints of a Watford student about finding her father's gravestone propped up with wooden stakes and rope at Vicarage Road Cemetery, as reported last week, cut little ice with me.
