Watford's Westfield Academy is inviting parents and youngsters to its open evening this week.

The secondary offers classes as wide ranging as performing arts, science, world studies and hair and beauty, which will all be discussed at the event on October 9 from 6pm.

Principal Tim Body said: "We are a school going from strength to strength. For the last five years we have outstripped all other local non-selective schools with our exam results.

"We are the only non-selective school where students leave with five good GCSEs including English and maths, above the national average."

The evening offers the chance to look around the school's facilities and meet their potential teachers.

Mr Body will be giving three talks on future plans for the school at 6.15pm, 7.15pm and 8.15pm.
