Watford have accepted Lord Michael Ashcroft’s offer of a £7.5m rights issue to try and stop the club going into administration but for this to happen the club claim former chairman Jimmy Russo must suspend his demand for the £4.88m he is owed.

Watford are not expected to release a statement confirming their financial position tonight but the Watford Observer understands the deadline to repay former chairman Jimmy Russo the £4.88m he is owed has been extended until tomorrow lunch time.

Watford have asked the London Stock Exchange to suspend trading in the shares of their parent company after the Russo brothers demanded repayment of their £4.88m loan "on or before close of business" today.
