Watford boss Malky Mackay expects tough test against Nottingham Forest

Watford manager Malky Mackay expects a real test on Boxing Day when his side host promotion chasers Nottingham Forest.

The visitors were beaten 4-2 by the Hornets at the start of the season but have stormed up the Championship table in recent months. Forest are currently third after a 14-match unbeaten run and have yet to lose away.

Mackay said: "It's an incredible record to have. They've added to the squad and financially they've been able to bring in a Premiership player who's played for England at left-back [Nicky Shorey]. When you've got that sort of financial strength, you only have to look at their bench the other night.

"We know it's going to be a tough game. We've played them already this season but obviously there has been a bit of a change in the lineups."

The Hornets are nearly at full strength for the festive clash with Don Cowie fit to return after a throat infection. But Craig Cathcart has returned to Manchester United for knee surgery and Ross Jenkins is still out with a back injury.
