Hardy pupils from Haberdashers’ Boys’ School braved the biting winter cold last week and spent the night sleeping rough for charity.
The boys, who were raising money for the Wings of Hope charity, spent last Monday night in cardboard boxes at the Batchworth Lane tennis courts.
Supported by volunteers from Hertfordshire Police, the six boys, who all live locally, raised hundreds of pounds in sponsorship money – money that will help educate needy children in India and Africa.
District councillor Kemal Butt said: “I congratulate these boys on their commitment and dedication towards improving the lives of those less fortunate than them.
“What was really heart warming was that the residents of the surrounding houses also came and gave them lots of encouragement and food in true local spirit.”
