Three youngsters from the same Bedmond family have proved their fighting spirit by being awarded their black belts at the same time.
Chelsea, 16, Aaron 14, and Ryan May, 12, all achieved their awards in Qi Kwon Do following a tough three-hour grading exam.
The dedicated trio, of Chapel Way, have been training with the Watford Qi Kwan Do Academy at the YMCA in Charter Place for almost two years and have rarely missed a session.
Proud father Ian May said: “I am over the moon with them. They have achieved so much in such a short time.
“The academy has taught them discipline. They used to fight among themselves but since they’ve attended the club they get along much better.”
Mr May added: “If they are out on the streets and an occasion arises where they need to defend themselves they will know how to handle the situation.”
During the grading they were assessed on patterns (forms), floor work, sparring and theory.
