Council to discuss pub site sale to housing developer

Councillors will consider selling a former South Oxhey pub site to a property developer at a meeting this evening.

Three Rivers District Council, which owns the site, will vote on an “offer” from developers Joseph Homes for the Jet public house at a meeting of its Executive Committee.

No further details are available about the magnitude of the offer or the possible size of any development.

The matter will be discussed at a behind-closed-doors meeting the press and public is not legally allowed to attend.

Details of the decision will be released at a later date.

Rather more serious is the fact that the decision will be made without press or public being present.

This is a complete negation of what democracy is supposed to be about. No debate or decision made by a local authority on behalf of taxpayers should ever take place behind closed doors.
