An Indian restaurant in Bushey Arches has been named the best South Asian restaurant in Watford.
Lalbagh Tandoori, in Chalk Hill, has won the Watford round of the Tiffin Cup – an annual award presented by a cross party group of MPs to a restaurant in their constituency.
Highly commended certificates were also awarded to five other curry houses who had received nominations from members of the public following coverage of the competition in the Watford Observer.
Watford MP Claire Ward said: “The Lalbagh received many nominations and the panel of judges I assembled to make the final decision faced a tough choice.
“The fact the Lalbagh won this local heat for such a prestigious award is testament to the fantastic efforts of all the staff there. I would like to thank all the other restaurants who participated. The standard of entries was extremely high.”
A selection of winning restaurants from 59 constituencies across the country have been shortlisted for the overall title, and the winner will be decided after a cook-off at Bellamy's Restaurant in the Houses of Parliament.
