A Watford Scout group can look forward to travelling in safety following the donation of a minibus by a Hertfordshire charitable trust.
The 74th Watford South (St Lukes) Scout Group will take delivery of the 15-seat minibus tomorrow (Wednesday).
The scouts aged six to 18 come from across Watford and will be using the new minibus for a range of activities, including trips this year to Devon, Derbyshire and Sussex.
The minibus is being donated by the West Herts Charitable Trust. Founded nearly ten years ago by the benevolent former directors of a company called West Herts Training, the trust has given away dozens of minibuses, worth more than £1 million.
Group Scout leader Toby Stromberg said: "I am so very grateful to the West Herts Charitable Trust for giving us this fabulous bus. It will enable us to continue to deliver a fantastic programme of outdoor activities for all the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in our group.
"We've been all over the place in the past, including south Wales, the Midlands and Kent, but previously we've had to hire minibuses. The cost of this became prohibitive, so the location of our trips became dictated by where we could ask parents to drive to - the new minibus will allow us to become more adventurous."
The 74th Watford South Scout Group was formed in 1954 and meets every week at St Luke's Church, Langley Way, Watford.
